In his post, Secretary Bessent said: “As @POTUS has made clear, the United States Navy will continue the blockade of Iranian ports. In a matter of days, Kharg Island storage will be full and the fragile Iranian oil wells will be shut in.”
He emphasized that the U.S. Treasury will keep applying “maximum pressure through Economic Fury” to degrade Tehran’s ability to generate, move, and repatriate funds. Any person or vessel involved in covert Iranian trade and finance risks exposure to U.S. sanctions.
This comes amid escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, further tightening the noose on Iran’s primary revenue source from oil exports.
