South Korea’s largest crypto exchange Upbit has officially partnered with Optimism to launch GIWA Chain — a new Layer-2 blockchain built on the OP Stack.
The collaboration aims to bring high-speed, low-cost transactions tailored for the Korean market while maintaining full compatibility with Ethereum and the broader Optimism ecosystem. GIWA Chain is expected to support seamless bridging, DeFi applications, and institutional-grade services.
This marks a significant step in Upbit’s expansion into blockchain infrastructure and further strengthens South Korea’s position as a major player in the global crypto ecosystem.
