Iran has issued a strong warning that any attempt by the US to tighten control over the Strait of Hormuz could collapse the newly announced two-week ceasefire.

The 10-point peace plan proposed by Iran (and described by President Trump as a “workable basis for negotiation”) includes controlled passage through Hormuz coordinated with Iranian armed forces – effectively allowing Iran to retain leverage over the critical waterway. It also requires compensation for war damages to be paid via fees on ships passing through Hormuz (point 8).
Talks are scheduled to begin this Friday in Islamabad. However, Iran now states that any unilateral US move to restrict or militarize the strait would immediately void the ceasefire agreement.
This comes just days after the ceasefire was announced on April 8, with the world watching whether the fragile truce can hold amid ongoing tensions.
